Abstract

This study aims to review the existing community theories, to transform them into spatial principles and ultimately to apply them in explaining the cohesive factors of village formation. People have been eager for community life, much more in contemporary mass society being troubled with structural contradictions. Now it is an ideal to be realized. Existing most rural villages have been originated from the traditional societies, and also the present form of rural villages probably came into being at that time. The village

makers were the very inhabitants of rural community, and they could not free from the then ideological, socio-economic and cultural circumstances. Major findings of this examination are as follows: 1) Desire for community life has been a tendency common to most people and the village community has played a role even as a historical inertia. Communal regulation practised in the village community governed all sphere of villagers' activities, and it also exerted a strong influence on building the principles of villagemaking.
