Design and Implementation of a Geocomputing Platform for LBS and Modular Mobile Mapping : An Approach Based on .NET

Abstract

So far, this thesis has discussed the design and implementation of a geocomputing platform for LBS and modular mobile mapping. This geocomputing platform targets LBS application development, and focuses on modular mobile mapping as a core element of LBS. Modular mobile mapping which support LBS consists of the functionalities of location information processing, mobile embedded mapping, and mobile internet mapping which play a unique role in the LBS application development. Modular mobile mapping becomes not only a core element of LBS, but also a useful application for mobile GIS.

Major contributions of thesis include a new approach based on .NET technology and an implementation of the interoperability with generic map servers. During the process of analysis, design, and implementation of the geocomputing platform, the implications can abe derived as below.

First, design and implementaion of our geocomputing platform was performed on the basis of "supportability of LBS" and "modularity of mobile mapping," and these principles can play the role of a basic strategy for the development process of a software platform for mobile geocomputing.

정보기술의 진보가 가져온 컴퓨팅환경과 일상생활의 변화 중 하나는 모빌리티의 증가라고 할 수 있다. 최근 들어, 무선인터넷의 보급이 확대되고 있으며, 휴대폰이나 PDA와 같은 모바일기기용 애플리케이션 개발과 콘텐츠 구축이 활발해지고 있다. 이 연구는 모바일기기 사용자의 실시간 위치를 통해 다양한 정보를 제공하는 위치기반서비스와 그 핵심요소로서의 모바일 매핑을 지원하는 지오컴퓨팅 플랫폼의 새로운 모형을 제시하는 데 그 목적을 둔다. 이 연구에서는 모바일 GIS와 LBS에 관한 기술문헌의 검토와 함께 기존의 메이저급 모바일 GIS 제품들과 LBS 서버 제품들의 기술특성을 분석함으로써 모바일환경에서의 지오컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 위한 시스템 구조를 도출하고, 이를 바탕으로 반드시 필요하지만 기존기술이 커버하지 않고 있는 틈새를 채울 수 있는 지오컴퓨팅 플랫폼을 개발한다. 기존기술에 대한 보완으로서 이 연구에서 중점을 둔 것은 닷넷 기반의 모바일매핑 콤포넌트의 개발과 일반 지도서버들과의 상호운용의 구현이다.
