- Abstract
- 'Spatial organization of entsorgung' is a term conceptually defined as a spatial organization which is made by the movement of what is collected and disposed after use. The purpose of this study is to analyse the spatial organization of solid waste collection, as an example of spatial organization of entsorgung, in Seoul Metropolitan City. The spatial organization of solid waste collection in Seoul has different characteristics from that of spatial organization theories such as central place theory. The spatial organization of waste collection has some hierarchy, so central place theory can explain it a little. But waste is so unwanted by people that it has different ways and routes of movement from those of favored foods and services. For that reason, central place theory and other spatial organization theories have limitations on explaining the spatial organization of solid waste collection, so new theories or concepts are needed to explain the spatial organization including that of solid waste collection.
