Abstract

김춘수는 폭력에 예민한 반응을 보인다. 이러한 반응은 고통에 대한 콤플렉스라는 형태로굳어지게 되는데, 이렇듯 그가 고통에 민감하게 된 이유는 우선 그것을 이겨낸다는 것이 불가능하다고 판단했기 때문이다. 고통의 극복이 더욱 불가능한 이유는 그것을 겪을 동안 인간은혼자서 그 모든 고통을 감당하여야 하기 때문이다. 그러나 예외적인 존재들은 그런 어려움 속에서도 죽음의 한계를 넘어서면서까지 자신에게 가해진 고통을 이겨낸 바가 있다. 예수가 그중 한 예이다. 그런 예수의 모습에서 김춘수는 대리 만족을 느끼기도 하였지만, 예수가 보여준초인적인 인내와 의지는 도저히 다가갈 엄두가 나지 않는다는 점에서 거리감을 느끼게 된다. 초인 예수의 시선을 의식하는 동안, 그의 자아는 빈곤해지고 위축된다. 스스로의 양심을 저버린 과거의 기억과 관련하여, 그의 자아는 그런 예수의 시선을 의식하는 동안 초자아의 강력한처벌 위협에 시달리게 된다. 그러나 이러한 자아의 위축과 왜소화는 이후 예수가 지닌 다른면, 즉 인간의 동반자로서의 면을 발견하게 되면서 상당 부분 해소된다. 이 경우 동반자로서의예수는 정신분석학적으로 나르시스적 단계에서 좀처럼 벗어나지 못하는 그의 자아를 무리 없이 상징계에 안착할 수 있도록 도움을 주는 상상의 아버지에 해당된다. 인간의 동반자인 예수의 시선은 이제 감시의 시선이 아니라 사랑의 시선으로 그에게 다가온다. 그리고 그런 사고의전환을 통해, 그는 더 이상 혼자가 아니게 된다. 예수가 그와 함께 한다는 상상을 통해 그의자아는 의미의 세계 속에 무리 없이 적응할 수 있었던 것이다.

Kim Chun Su shows an acute reaction to violence. Such a reaction formedinto a complex about pain. As such, the foremost reason that he became sosensitive to pain is due to his conclusion that it is impossible to overcome pain. Moreover, the reason for this impossibility is in that a human must bear allthe pain alone during the process of experiencing it. However, even in themoments of such difficulty, exceptional beings have overcome pain even byexceeding the limit of death. One example is Jesus. While Kim feels a vicarioussatisfaction through Jesus, he also feels distanced in that he could neveraccomplish the superman level of will and endurance that Jesus demonstrated. Conscious of superman Jesus gaze, Kims ego becomes relatively lacking anddiminutive. Especially in remembering his past during which Kim betrayed hisown conscience, Kims ego suffers the threat of the superegos harshpunishment. But upon Kims discovery of Jesus another characteristic, ahumans companion, such egos diminishment becomes mostly resolved. Inlooking at this case psychoanalytically, Jesus as a companion is the imaginaryfather who assists Kims ego to overcome its narcissistic stage and to settle atthe Symbolic. Jesus gaze is no longer that of supervision but that of love. Through this shift in perspective, Kim realizes that he is no longer alone. Through his imagination of Jesus companionship, his ego could easily adaptto the world of meaning.
