Сахалинское путешествие А.П. Чехова: к реконструкции замысла

Abstract

Статья посвящена попытке реконструкции некоторых аспектов чеховской поездки на Сахалин. В связи с этим производится анализ принципов построения биографии писателя, рассматривается один из первых моментов пробуждения у Чехова интереса к темам тюрьмы и каторги в России и обосновывается мысль о необходимости расширения поля комментируемых материалов и источников книги "Остров Сахалин". В работе обосновывается мысль о необходимости учета многих статей и публикаций, оставшихся неназванными в чеховском списке и в примечаниях к книге. Замысел и жизненная идея стягивают факт биографии и художественную манеру в один узел. Представляется, что в процессе оформления замысла происходит овеществление и эстетической модели будущей книги, законов, которые дадут тексту завершение. Именно поэтому Чехов начал свою книгу еще до путешествия. Он как бы знал цели своего труда, знал ответ на волновавший его вопрос. Работа над источниками книги "Остров Сахалин" позволяет увидеть богатую палитру публицистического стиля Чехова.

The article presents an attempt to reconstruct some aspects of Chekhovs trip to Sakhalin Island. Thus, an analysis of some principles characteristic of the writers biography is carried out; one of the first moments of Chekhovs awakening of interest to the subject of Russias prison and katorga is considered, and, as a result, the idea of a compelling necessity to expand and explore the field of the commentary materials and sources of Sakhalin Island is proved. Also the necessity to register many an article and publication left outside the Chekhovs list and commentaries to the book is claimed. The design and lifes goal bind the fact of biography and creative technique into one knot. It is assumed that a process of manifestation of aesthetic model and principles takes place within the designs formation thus making the text logically complete. The abovementioned speculations suggest that Chekhov should have started his book long before the trip itself. He is supposed to have known the goals of his work and, in a sense, he foresaw the destination. A more complete comprehension of the books sources will enable both the researcher and the reader to render Chekhovs publicist style in a more sophisticated aspect.
