<시용향악보>의 평조내당(平調內堂)

Abstract

<시용향악보>의 대왕반 제목 아래 기록된 평조내당이란 주석에서, 대왕반이 내당(계면조)의 평조 악곡일 것으로 추론하고, 두 곡의 선율선을 비교하여 동일계 악곡임을 확인하였다. 또한 <시용향악보>의 대왕반 즉 평조내당과 오늘날 서울굿에서 연주되는 기악곡 당악을 비교하여 그 두곡의 제목과 선율이 전승관계에 있음을 밝혔다. 다만 현행 당악의 선율은 500년의 시차(時差)를 두고 진화하여 그 원형선율에서 크게 멀어졌다. 이 글로 <시용향악보>의 수록악곡과 현행 악곡의 관련성에 대한 관심이 재고되기를 희망한다.

Having inferred that Daewangban is a modulation of Naedang (which is in the mode of gyemyeonjo) into the mode of pyeongjo, based upon an annotation entitled Pyeongjo Naedang under the heading of Daewangban in Siyong Hyangakbo, I have compared the melodic contours of Daewangban and Naedang and confirmed that the two pieces are of the same origin. I have also compared Pyeongjo Naedang, that is, Daewangban in Siyong Hyangakbo, with the current instrumental version of Dangak as performed in Seoulgut, Seoul shaman ritual, and demonstrated that the two pieces are related. It is important to note, however, that the current version of Dangak is far removed from the original as it has evolved over the past five centuries. I hope that this essay will arouse further interest in the relationship between pieces contained in Siyong Hyangakbo and pieces currently played.
