<礪山宋氏十二世系>의 다원적 혈연의식과 사회관계망

Abstract

17세기 양반 관료인 宋熙業이 편찬한 <礪山宋氏十二世系>는 편찬자의 내외조상을 12개의 가계로 나누어 정리해 놓은 개인중심적인 가계기록이다. 12개의 가계는 편찬자의 팔고조도를 바탕으로 선정되어 있어서 조선전기 가계기록에서 잘 나타나는 다원적 혈연관념을 표현하고 있다. 송희업은 친가인 여산송씨와 외가인 光州[光山]金氏의 족보 편찬에도 관여하고 있었는데, <십이세계>를 편찬하면서 수집한 계보관련 자료를 다수 활용하였을 것으로 추측된다. 성씨별 족보를 편찬하면서 異姓의 수록 범위는 매우 축소되었지만, 사회계층적 범위는 확대되어 이제까지 교류가 적었던 지방의 한미한 사족까지도 수록하고자 노력하였다. 이러한 점은 <십이세계>의 혈연관념이 매우 다원적임에도 불구하고 수록된 인물의 사회계층이나 지역적 범위의 다양성이 크지 못했던 것과 대조적인 것으로 개인적 가계기록과 성씨별 족보의 성격 차이를 잘 보여준다. 편찬자 송희업은 관료로서 크게 성공한 인물은 아니지만, 앞 세대에서부터 왕실과 빈번히 혼인하면서 중앙관인층 사이에 폭넓은 인맥을 쌓아오고 있었으며, 무엇보다 여러 집안의 족보에 능통한 譜學의 대하고 인정받고 있었다. 이러한 인맥과 능력을 바탕으로 송희업은 12개 가문의 계보를 정리하는 성과를 이루었으나, 대체로 京畿 지역에 世居하는 중앙관인층을 수록하는 데에 그치는 한계도 아울러 드러내고 있었다.

Yosan Songssi Sibi Segye is a ego-oriented genealogy record compiled by Song Hui-op, a government official in the 1 ih century. twelve family lines are consisted of the lineal ancestors of the compiler Song's eight great-grandparents and four patents-in-law. This editing method reflect the bilateral kinship consciousness that genealogy books expressed in the early Choson period. The compiler also participated m editing of genealogy books of Yosan Song and Kwangju Kim lineages. These genealogy books for only one family name excluded the descendants who had other family names, while including the rural and inferior descendants so long as they had the common patrilineal progenitor. In contrast, Sibi Segye was compiled on the basis of the pluralistic kinship, and recorded people had regional and hierarchical uniformity. The compiler Song was descended from the noble family enough to intermarry with the royal family, and made more personal connections in the bureaucrat society of the central government. The social status of the compiler enabled him to become a master of genealogy and to edit different types of genealogical records.
