奎章閣 소장 <論語>와 四書 관련 문헌에 대한 고찰

Abstract

주지하다시피 <논어>는 동양의 문화적 전통을 형성하고 한국의 역사와 문화에 유가적 전통을 뿌리내리는 데 큰 영향을 미친 경서이다. 오랫동안 조선의 왕실 도서관으로서의 기능을 담당해온 규장각에서 <논어>는 왕실과 문인 학자들이 열람하기에 부족함이 없도록 반드시 소장해야 할 문헌 중의 하나였다. 본고에서는 규장각에 소장된 經部문헌 가운데 특히 현재 규장각에 소장된 <논어> 관련 문헌들을 연구대상으로 삼아 고찰하였다. 그런데 <논어> 관련 문헌은 단행본 형태로 소장된 <논어>라고 할지라도 실제로는 四書의 일부로 간행된 경우가 상당히 많은 것을 발견할 수 있다. 즉, 四書의 영향이 지대하였던 유가 문화의 전통 속에서<논어>는 기실 <맹자>, <대학>, <중용>과 함께 四書本으로 간행되는 경우가 많았던 것이다. 사서본으로 간행되었으나 여러 가지 이유로 산일되어 <논어>만이 단행본처럼 소장되어 있는 경우는 함께 간행되었던 四書本의 간행 양상을 살펴보아야 규장각에 소장된 <논어>와 四書에 관한 더 다양하고 포괄적인 의미를 찾아낼 수 있으리라고 생각한다. 그러므로 본고에서는 <논어>와 <논어>가 포함된 四書類의 고서를 함께 살펴보았다.

The article focuses on the documents about <The Analects of Confucius> and The Four Books in Kyujanggak(奎章閣) of Korea, which are classified under three heads like the Korean editions, the Chinese editions and the Japanese editions. The Korean editions about <The Analects of Confucius> and The Four Books in Kyujanggak(奎章閣) almost are the Korean re-printed editions of <The collections of annotations about the Analects of Confucius(論語集註大全)> and <The assembly of annotations about the Analects of Confucius(論語集註)>, excepting <The Korean annotations about the Analects of Confucius(論語諺解)>. The Chinese editions almost are the documents about The Four Books, which are lithographed massively in Qing dynasty for the students to prepare the civil service examination. This type of the Chinese editions are imported into Chosun by Jibokjjae (集玉齋), the royal academic institute established in the period of Kojong(高宗) to catch up with the international thoughts. The Japanese editions are small amount and mostly imported during the Japanese colonial era, and need to research more.
