우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀의 한국어 높임법 습득 경험에 대한 내러티브 탐구

Abstract

상대방을 높이는 다양한 어휘 및 문법적인 범주가 모든 언어에는 존재한다. 특히 한국어의 높임법 체계는 다른 언어에 비해 매우 발달되어 있다. 한국어에는 주체와 객체를 높이는 어휘 및 문법 범주가 있다. 하지만 우즈베키스탄의 높임법 체계는 한국어처럼 복잡하지 않고 단순하게 실현된다. 이러한 언어적인 차이점으로 한국어를 배우는 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀들은 높임법에 대한 어려움을 겪는 경우가 있다. 또한 중도입국 자녀가 한국어를 습득할 때 다양한 오류를 범하게 되는데 그중에서 두드러지는 것은 한국어 높임법에 관한 오류라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀의 한국어 높임법 습득 경험에 대한 내러티브를 통해 중도입국 자녀의 경험에서 구성한 의미 탐구가 한국어 높임법의 교육에 주는 시사점을 탐색하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 본고에서 설정한 연구 문제는 첫째, 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀의 한국어 높임법 어려움을 탐구하고 둘째, 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀가 한국어 높임법 사용의 어려움을 극복하는 과정을 탐구하고 셋째, 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀의 한국어 높임법 교육적 시사점을 탐구하는 것이다. 본고의 연구 방법으로는 질적 연구인 내러티브 탐구를 사용하였다. 내러티브 탐구는 인간의 삶을 연구하는 접근법이며 개인의 경험을 존중하고, 이해하고, 연구 참여자가 가지고 있는 경험의 의미를 가장 깊게 탐구하기 때문에 본 연구의 목적에 가장 적합한 연구 방법이다. 내러티브 탐구의 방법에 따라 탐구 절차는 연구 한가운데로 들어가기, 현장에서 현장 텍스트로, 현장 텍스트에서 중간 연구 텍스트로, 중간 연구 텍스트에서 연구 텍스트로의 과정을 거치면서 진행하였다. 국내에서 국제결혼이민자의 증가에 따라 부모와 떨어져 거주하던 자녀가 한국으로 이주하는 사례가 늘어나고 있다. 이에 중도입국 자녀의 한국어와 한국문화에 대한 초기 적응을 돕기 위한 다양한 예비학교 및 교육 프로그램들이 수행되고 있지만 예비학교를 거치지 않고 정규학교에 진학한 중도입국 자녀들의 수도 증가하고 있다. 본 연구의 참여자로는 부모의 재혼으로 인해 학령기에 국내로 입국한 한국어 높임법 습득 경험이 있으며 본 연구에 적극적으로 참여할 의향이 있는 우즈베키스탄 배경의 다문화가정이자 중도입국 자녀 5명을 선정하였다. 이때 학년, 한국 거주 기간 및 한국어 수준에 주의를 기울였다. 현장 텍스트는 심층 면담의 방법으로 수집하고 면담을 참여자별로 1, 2회 수행하였다. 본고의 심층 면담은 상호 논의의 의미 교섭의 과정이었다. 중간 연구 텍스트를 연구 참여자들과 함께 검토하여 최종 연구 텍스트를 구성하였다. 연구 참여자들이 한국어 높임법 습득한 경험의 내러티브는 다음과 같이 이해될 수 있다. 첫째, 연구 참여자들은 처음부터 제대로 된 문법 교육을 받지 못했기 때문에 한국어 높임법의 체계에 대한 지식이 부족함으로 여러 실패 경험들을 겪게 되었다. 참여자들의 공통된 높임법 습득 어려움 경험과 각각 다른 경험의 내러티브는 무엇 때문에 높임법 습득에서 어려움을 겪는지에 대한 맥락을 드러낸다. 둘째, 연구 참여자들은 한국어 높임법 극복하는 과정을 겪었다. 한국 사회에서 높임법의 역할이 중요한 것을 인식함으로써 새로운 환경에서 만난 가족 구성원, 친구, 선생님 등의 도움 및 본인의 의지로 높임법 어려움을 극복할 수 있었다. 본 연구에서 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀들의 한국어 습득 경험에 대한 이야기 속에서 발견한 경험의 의미는 제2의 인생에 빗대어 한국 정착기로 시작된 제2의 인생, 제2의 인생에서 높임법과 충돌, 제2의 인생에서 높임법 극복 과정, 중도입국 자녀에게 제공되는 한국어 교육 및 한국어 교육적인 시사점이라는 비유를 통해 함축적으로 구성되었다. 본 연구를 통해 우즈베키스탄 배경 중도입국 자녀의 한국어 높임법 습득 경험을 깊이 있게 이해할 수 있었으며, 그들의 경험을 활용한 중도입국 자녀를 위한 한국어 높임법 교육의 필요성과 의의를 도출할 수 있었다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the implications for the education of Korean honorifics by examining the meaning of the experiences of immigrant children from Uzbekistan through the narrative of the Korean proficiency acquisition experience among the immigrant children's Korean language acquisition experiences. To this end, the research puzzles set in this paper are: first, to explore the difficulties of immigrant children of Uzbekistan background in using Korean honorifics; second, to explore the process of overcoming difficulties in using Korean honorifics for children of Uzbekistan background; The purpose of this study is to explore the educational implications of Korean honorifics. As a research method in this paper, a qualitative research, a narrative inquiry, was used. Narrative inquiry is an approach to study human life, and it is the most suitable research method for the purpose of this study because it respects and understands individual experiences, and deeply explores the meaning of the experience that research participants have. Depending on the method of narrative inquiry, the inquiry process proceeded through the process of 'Entering the middle of the research', 'From the field to the field text', 'From the field text to the intermediate research text', and 'From the intermediate research text to the research text'. As participants in the study, 5 immigrant children from multicultural families from Uzbekistan who had experience in learning Korean and who were willing to actively participate in this study were selected who entered Korea at school age due to their parents' remarriage. At this time, attention was paid to grade level, length of residence in Korea, and Korean language level. Field texts were collected through in-depth interviews, and interviews were conducted once or twice per participant. The in-depth interview in this paper was a process of negotiating the meaning of mutual discussion. The interim research text was reviewed together with the research participants to form the final research text. The narrative of the experience of the study participants' acquisition of Korean honorifics can be understood as follows. First, since the research participants did not receive proper grammar education from the beginning, they suffered various failure experiences due to lack of knowledge about the Korean honorific system. The participants' common experience of difficulty in acquiring honorifics and the narratives of their different experiences reveal the context of why they have difficulty in acquiring honorifics. Second, the study participants went through the process of overcoming Korean honorifics. By recognizing the important role of honorifics in Korean society, they were able to overcome difficulties with honorifics with the help of family members, friends, teachers and etc. In this study, the meaning of the experiences found in the stories about the Korean language acquisition experiences of children immigrants from Uzbekistan background are compared to the second life, 'The second life that began with settling down in Korea', 'The conflict with honorifics in the second life', 'The process of overcoming honorifics in the second life', and 'Korean language education provided to immigrant children and implications for Korean language education'. Through this study, it was possible to deeply understand the Korean honorific experience among the Korean language acquisition experiences of immigrant children from Uzbekistan, and the necessity and significance of Korean honorific education for immigrant children using their experiences were derived.
