2018 평창동계올림픽 평화 레거시 인식에 관한 연구

Abstract

Olympic peace legacy has been considered as one of the most fundamental and important Olympic legacy. However, the rhetoric that peace legacy holds caused constant questions of its effectiveness which leads to the demand of practical data of Olympic peace legacy. Under such circumstances this study aims to analyze how 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympic peace legacy is understood and what are the implications it holds. As a case study, literature review and in-depth interview was conducted. Scholarly journals, official documents from related organization and media data were researched for literature review and in-depth interview was conducted according to preceding studies. The study participants, who were selected through purposeful sampling, are members of Pyeongchang 2018 Legacy Foundation, KOICA(Korean International Cooperation Agency) and peace legacy participants. The data collected was categorized in order to analyze its logical relationships. Through this process, Pyeongchang Olympic peace legacy appears to understood through both culture of war and culture of peace paradigm. Also, the peace legacy of Pyeongchang Olympic, that was invested for long term, shows practical consequences as imperical case. Furthermore, the meaning of peace legacy could be seen as paradoxical complexity.

올림픽 평화 레거시는 올림픽 레거시 중에서 본원적 의미에서 중요하게 다뤄지는 레거시임에도 불구하고, 실증적 자료의 부재로 그 실효성과 투자가치가 끊임없이 의심받아왔다. 이러한 상황에서 평창올림픽 평화 레거시는 비교적 지속적인 평화 레거시로서 다양한 자료를 제공한다. 본 연구는 2018 평창동계올림픽을 통해 형성된 평화 레거시 인식을 다양한 관점에서 확인하고, 그 함의를 탐색하는 것에 목적이 있다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하고자 본 연구에서는 평창올림픽의 평화 레거시는 어떻게 인식됐으며, 그러한 평화레거시 인식은 어떠한 함의를 지니는지에 대하여 탐구하고자 하였다. 본 연구에는 사례연구로서 문헌 고찰과 심층 면담을 통하여 자료를 수집하였다. 문헌 고찰은 주로 평창올림픽 평화 레거시에 관한 현황과 실태를 파악하기 위하여 학술 논문, 연구보고서, 관련 기관의 공식 문서, 보고서 그리고 언론 보도 자료를 이용하였다. 심층 면담은 선행연구 고찰을 통해 수집한 내용을 토대로 면담의 내용 및 범위를 선별하였다. 본 연구는 의도적 표집 방법(purposeful sampling)을 통해 참여자를 선정하였으며, 평창올림픽 평화 레거시의 기획 및 운영자로서 2018평창기념재단의 사업 관련 운영부서와 KOICA(Korean International Cooperation Agency) 임직원, 평창평화포럼의 참여자를 면담하였다. 수집된 자료는 구체적으로, 자료에서 발견되는 패턴과 주제를 찾아 범주화하였다. 범주화된 자료는 개념적, 이론적 일관성을 가진 상태에서 논리적 관계를 파악하여 제시하였다. 이를 통해 도출된 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 평창올림픽 평화 레거시는 다양한 평화 패러다임 중, 전쟁의 문화와 평화의 문화가 혼재되어 인식되고 있으며, 이러한 평창올림픽 평화 레거시는 비교적 지속적인 투자를 통해 평화 레거시를 실질적으로 구현하였다. 또한 평화 레거시 의미가 역설적으로 혼재되어 있다고 볼 수 있다.
