Abstract
Before I first came to Korea, I had already written, or at least had begun to write, a great deal of "Korean" pieces, For example, just to name two of them : The musical parade about IMUGI (이무기, 1992) is a strange hybrid of serpent and dragon, an odd composition with similarities to German carnival and Chinese dragon processions, religious rituals, military marches, and an avant-garde scouting of space and time. Also, the one-hour Cello-solo-piece Skordaturen II(1992~94), refers to the slow movements Jinyang(진양) and Jung-mori(중모리) of Komun'go-Sanjo(거문고 산조).
