- Abstract
- As we enter the modern, technology development of mobile communications and digital devices is changing people's lifestyles. Gradually widening spatial extent and area that can act, complex life is made possible. This feature, as well as traditional residential housing have indicates that business function. Modern people needs spaces that reflect lifestyle and tendencies as such complex and integrated residential living as well as living up to the task.
However, in the existing urban plan, a clear separation between housing and work space in land use planning does not consider the characteristics of modern people. Awareness of these issues, this study will give show analyzing the characteristics about workers according to mixed-use of home and office function. Research data were collected by KOSIS. Research data were called Life Time Research during 2009. Number of samples are 7,072 except people under 19 years old, students, no working people, and some workers not to meet purpose of this study.
Depender variable were 3 groups according to the behavior to choose place to work between home and out(office or ect.)
group[work at home], group[work at home&out], group[work at out]. And another Depender variable were the amount of time to work at home of 3 groups. Independent variable were the characteristics about workers
personal characteristics(age, sex, having preschool children or not, education), family characteristics(family size, housing type, area of housing, region to live), economical characteristics(job, position, income, time of commuting, week or weekend to work).
Through Multinomial logistic model, the characteristics of group[work at home] are strongly having professional job, free lancer and working on weekend compare to group[work at out]. Through Tobit model, compared to group[work at out], the characteristics of group[work at home&out] are woman, elderly, high-education, living in wide area of housing, commuting for a long time, owner, administrator, officer, salse of types of jobs and working on weekend including the characteristics of group[work at home].
As a result, the characteristics about workers affect to choice place to work
home or out or both of all
as well as amount of time to work at home. The characteristics are age, sex, education, area of housing, job, position, week or weekend to work. And between 3 groups, their characteristics have differences each other.
As provide basic cross section about status of workers according to mixed-use of home and office function, goal of this empirical study has attention about mixed-use of home and office function and providing basic data to decide direction of city planning. Therefore, these results show that what characteristics of workers would affect behavior to work at home or out, there are significant to provide data to reflect to diverse & flexible housing policy and mixed land use planing.
However, because job category of data in this study was not classified in detail, this study has some limits not to analyze the characteristics of types of jobs clearly.
