Abstract
The polarization dependence of the photoconductivity (PC) is studied in stretch-oriented poly(p-phenylenevinylene) films. Differences in the recombination dynamics and spectral responses of the photocurrent are observed for different polarization directions. The steady-state PC spectra show well-resolved vibronic structures with a PC onset at about 2.2 eV in the oriented PPV. The transient subnanosecond PC shows larger photocurrent and lifetime for carriers generated by light polarized perpendicular to the orientation axis.
