Abstract
Chitosan has been investigated as a non-viral vector because it has several advantages such as biocompatibility, biodegradability and low toxicity with high cationic potential. However, low transfection efficiency and low cell specificity of chitosan as a DNA carrier need to be solved for clinical application. In this review, chitosan nanohybrid systems for enhancement of transfection efficiency in vitro were explained.
