- Abstract
- High data rate 180-GHz minimum shift keying (MSK)-modulated signals for dielectric waveguide communication with an output power of -3.5 dBm are demonstrated using a signal generator fabricated in a 65-nm CMOS. To accomplish this, the techniques for controlling the relative phases of half-sine shaping signal and data, "Misaligned-to-Aligned," are proposed and demonstrated. Limited by the instrumentation for the MSK signal analyses, the eyes of the transmitted MSK signals have been verified for a data rate up to 10 Gbps. The spectra of the transmitted signals for data rate up to 15 Gbps are also demonstrated. The MSK signal generator provides 5X higher data rate among all the previously reported MSK transmitters at 3X higher carrier frequency.
