This paper presents a new inverter topology, buck-buck-boost (B3) inverter, which is derived from an H-bridge converter with additional switch legs (HA converter). With its simple circuit structure and expandability, the proposed inverter demonstrates low common mode noise due to its solid connection between the grounds of the input and output terminals. The proposed inverter is especially advantageous in photovoltaic power conditioning system of which large parasitic capacitances are prone to generated common-mode electromagnetic interference (EMI). In this paper, circuit structure, operation, and control strategy of the B3 inverter are designed. Experimental results verify that the proposed inverter shows lower noise and higher efficiency than conventional inverter.-
