Abstract
A cryptographically secure pseudo-random number generators (CS-PRNG) is a key building block in many privacyenhancing techniques such as differential privacy, cryptography, and secure multi-party computation, so designing an energy-efficient CS-PRNG is essential to make energy-constrained embedded devices secure. This paper presents four different types of energy-efficient CS-PRNGs designed in a 28nm CMOS process using high-level synthesis ( HLS). Thanks to HLS, design space is efficiently explored by sweeping the microarchitectural parameters through which the optimal implementation is found. Performance of the designed CS-PRNGs is found to be comparable to that of prior art based on manually coded RTL implementations.
