Abstract
It is the purpose of this review to understand the humanities and social science approach to the physical education discipline through analyzing and discussing the nature, range, and method of the research. The composition of the physical education discipline is reviewed as containing philosophy of physical education, and history of physical eduation in humanisties sub-area, and psychology of physical education, sociology of physical education, and administration of physical education in social science aspects sub-area. Philosophy of physical education is the study that tries to discover laws of oughtness in physical education phenomenon using epistemological, taxonomical and critical approach. History of physical education is the study that attempts to discover the relationships among the facts by selecting the physical education pheonmenon as a historical fact on the basis of a historical view. Psychology of physical education is the study that aims to deal with mental phenomenon and to discover the general laws from it. Sociology of physical education is the study that tries to understand the physical education phenomenon as a social group and to discover the laws of probability from it. Administation of physical education is the study that tries to discover how the environment influnces to the physical education phenomenon.
