Abstract
It is the purpose of this thesis to analyse the viewpoints on female and to carry the educational forms and experiences that are informally enforced, even if there is no formal education for female in traditional sociey of Korea, in accordance with their viewpoints. The educational plans for female are usually determined by the viewpoints on women, besides the female education today is historically based on the past. The important feature of the position of female in Korean traditional society is that women have been dependent on men in economy and havent had opportunities to engage in jobs. As a result, they have emphasized the educational pratice for female, the roles of housewives and mothers, and development of womens virtue in each social class. However, the extents of that isolation from jobs and economic dependence have begun to decline. Since the begining of twentieth century, the formal and the mass education for female make appearances in this country and make a continuous development. But the focus of the interests in female education brought the quantitative growth before qualitative advancement, therefore there have been considerable women who find their ways to educational and social activities. Especially, since 1919 the participation of the social activities and the independent movement of the educated modern female students elevate the social position for female. Those phenomena, in acompany with social progress, resulted in the generalization of female education and social activity. So that, the people belieγe firmly that women can be educated and must be educated according to their ability, meanwhile they have a tendency of mans predominance over women until now. The female education in this country in the future attaches importance to the image of female who can adjust in social changes, as a socialized person.
