Abstract
In the process of national reunification, social and cultural adaptation between people from the both sides of the divided nation is considered to be one of the most serious problems encountered, as demonstrated in such cases as that of Germany. This calls for the urgent need for development of some useful measures of resocialization. The main purpose of this paper is to inquire about the possibility and advantage of applying the methods of North Korea' s ideological indoctrination to the development of such resocialization programs of the North Korean people, including recent defectors from the North. One of the most distinct features of North Korean society is to have its people exposed to a through process of political education in order to maintain its system. Indoctrination programs repeatedly offered everγday are meant to induce loyalty to the system. Assuming therefore, that in order to facilitate adaptation of the North Korean people one might want to utilize the methods of education familiar to them, this study examines in some detail the principles and actual methods of ideological indoctrination employed in North Korea and suggests how they might be utilized in the resocialization programs.
