Abstract
Eighty-three randomly sampled male students (age:18-21 yrs.) of Seoul National University served as subjects. They were tested for leg power using three tests and were measured for physical characteristics by means of anthropometric method. The power tests were Sargent jump, standing long jump, and 50m dash. The physical measurements were lower limb length, hip girth, thigh girth, calf girth, and ankle girth. The Sargent jump and standing long jump test were to observe the leg powers which propell the body vertically, horizontally respectively;the 50m dash test was to measure the leg power on which the leg speed factor plays a dominant role. The lower limb length measurement was to know the length of bone and muscle;the hip and ankle measurements were to observe the girth of lower limb bone; the thigh and calf measurements were conducted to know the· girth of lower limb muscle. Data were proved by correlation analysis (Persons r). The following conclusions were obtained 1. A significant relationship was obtained between lower limb length/height ratio and the leg powers which respectively propell the body vertically, horizontally. 2. A significant relationship was found between lower limb length/height ratio and the leg power on which the leg speed plays a dominant role. 3. No significant relationship was obtained between lower limb bone girth/height ratio and leg power. 4. As for the relationship between muscle girth and power, a significant relationship was found between thigh muscle girth/height ratio and the leg power which propells the body vertically, but was not obtained with calf muscle girth/height ratio
