Rousseau, a thinker in the era of enlightenment, published his influential book, Emile, in which he dealswith the religious, social and educational condition not only of France but of all western Europe. So this study attempts to deal with his thoughts of physical education. The results are as follows: 1. Physical education lays the foundation for and proceeds with intellectual training. 2. Physical fitness is the foundation for the spiritual development. 3. Games and sport in the open are important in childhood. 4. Prevention is more important than medical treatment in hygiene.-
