Abstract
An effort had been made to improve the school programs. The success of the program in schools is dependent upon how the school program be implemented with rational foundations and specific guidelines. Therefore, it is necessary that the curriculum of physical education be evaluated and improved as the results of a learners performance in schools. The main purpose of this research is to examine ways in which teachers plan and implement the physical education curriculum, and to give the guidelines for the improvement of the curriculum. The present status and emerging problems on the implementing of the physical education curriculum are as follows: 1. There is the irrationality of the purpose of the physical education. 2. There is the unsystematization in selecting and organizing the physical education contents. 3. There is the standardization of teaching methods and evaluation of physical education. On the basis of the evidence from this investigation, the following basic guidelines can be made for the planning and implemetinng of the physical education currlicuum which has real bearing on our present education in the secondary schools. 1. The physical education curriculum should plan for life-long physical education. 2. The purposes and objectives should be emphasized more process than product, and be considered the whole aspect in the development of an individual. 3. The written purposes and objectives should be developed according to the community and the school. Also, the main components such as characteristics, needs, expectations and levels of students should be considered. 4. The physical education in the secondary school should matter highest ranked aims of physical fitness, and in addition, proceed the physical education program with the conceptual approach in learning. 5. The physical education curriculum should be constructed and taught on the basis of developmental processes and stages, needs, and interests of each individual. 6. The physical education curriculum in schools should be developed with the concepts of mastery learning.
