Abstract

In this thesis, my purpose is to discourse upon Foundationism Method"(F.M.) and whose structure which was conceived in terms by myself. The table of F.M. is a condensed thing of this thesis. Firstly, I refer to F.M. itself as a prototype. Before everything, I thought of the concentration of ones effort on foundation" as a principal concept of F.M. It means that we have to know the endeavour point where we should put forth all our strength. What we take off our force in doing something is to do something with all our force." This phrase looks paradoxical. But as seeing our everyday experiences and that of masters, we easily realize what it means and that it is true. Let me take an example. When a master plays the piano, he looks as if he didnt put forth much strength in appearance. But what is a reason that the tone and the rhythmes from his musical instrument sounds so distinct and envolves high artistic value? It is the consequence of his many years training. So his eyes are opened to see the endeavour point to play the piano well, and he can devote his own energies just to it. Therefore F.M. takes a grave view of the best practical use of ones energies or the concentration of ones effort on foundation". I stated about investigation, awakening and, realisation as 3 dimensions of F.M. and enumerate purpose, plan, collection, comprehension, recitation and evaluation as that of 6 stages. Secondarily, it is about new translation of Korean viewpoint of educational method (K.V.E.M.). The educational thought of YULGOK LEEYI (要各 李理) is worthy of notice as K.V.E.M. So the key word SUNG (誠 : great sincerity), and his states of IPJI(立志 : decision ·of purpose in life), MYUNGJI(明쩌 : discernment) and YUKHAENG(力行 : great exertion), and also the words SASA(事師), TAEKWOO(擇友), DOKSUH(讀書), DOKKYUNG(驚敬), CHEOSE(處世) and SHINUN(慣言), all are drawn from 『'KYUKMONG- YOGYUL(擊蒙要訣)』and 『HAHKKYO-MOBUM(學校模範)』, The latter six words are put in parenthesized in the table. After resystemising the main bones of K.V.E.M. by the viewpoint of Foundationism, I pronounced it again by my own words as 6 stages; MOONHAK(問學), JUNGCHAL(精察), SABYUN(思辯), MYUNGKAK(明覺), YUNMA(硏磨), and DOTONG(道通). Now I translate these words briefly. It means: 1. inquiring so what" and studying (MOONHAK) 2. thoroghly examining (JUNGCHAL) 3. thinking and discerning (SABYUN) 4. enlightly awakening (MYUNGKAK) 5. practicing and improving (YUNMA) 6. perfectly. being conversant with (DOTONG)Thirdly, I considered childrens learning patterns from the viewpoint of Foundationisin Thiardly, I considered children's learning from the viewpoint of Foundationism as a tentative plan of F.M. New explanation of K.V.E.M. was adequately applied to doing it. So the key word of CHAMHAGE" was used in the relation of SUNG, and the expression of ALABOGO", SAENGKAKHAGO" and HAE-BONDA" corresponds to 3 dimensions-exploration, awakening and realisation. Moreover, in the table, I exemplificated six learning patterns; an inquiring and answering learning, an observation learning, a discussion learning, a spontaneousness learning, a work learning and a play learning. These six learning patterns are equivalent to the six learning stages; ① inquiring & studying ② carefully examining ③ thinking & discerning ④ enlightly awaking ⑤ practicing & improving and ⑥ perfectly mastering. But when we express these six stages more seriously, these are purpose, plan, collection, comprehension, recitation and evaluation. So we can use F.M. as an educational method for human formation of all people not to ask his age nor his scholaristic ability.
