Abstract
We read with interest the recently published article by
Myles et al.1 evaluating whether statins, angiotensin
converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs), proton pump
inhibitors (PPIs) and histamine-2-receptor antagonists
(H2RAs) have an impact on short-term and long-term
mortality in pneumonia cases. They concluded that the
use of statins was associated with a decreased risk of
short-term and long-term mortality following pneumonia.
1 However, we have some comments concerning
the study design and results.
