- Abstract
- 1996년부터 중국에서는 신화·전설적 인물들을 역사화하려는 시도들이 다방면에서 활발하게 이루어졌으며, 그런 노력들은 지금도 계속되고 있다. 하상주단대공정(夏商周斷代工程)과 중화문명탐원공정(中華文明探源工程)이라는 이름하에 국가 주도로 행해진 이 거대 프로젝트들의 목적은 뿌리깊은 역사를 가진 중화(中華)문명을 규명함으로써, 대내적으로는 중국인들의 자존심과 민족적 응집력을 향상시키고, 대외적으로는 중국문명의 유구성과 우월성을 널리 알리는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 이 두 프로젝트의 몇 가지 문제점을 살펴본 후에, 중국 고대 신화의 연구방법과 연구 과정에서 활용되는 사료의 가치, 성격 및 그 한계들을 고찰해보겠다.
