Abstract
The goal of this paper is to find out some syntactic properties of the 'it seems' construction from a standpoint of the generative-transformational grammar. Albert S. Hornby ex plains a noteworthy usage of the English verbs seem and appear as follows(Hornby 1954: 32c. § 62) :
