Probably, the dialectal differentiation must have been in existence since the earliest
stage of the history of Korean peninsula, and it must have been more evident in the era of three kingdoms, Kokwulye, Paykce and SíIla. And judging from dialectal facts of present days, we can say that the dialects of the northern part of Korean peninsula, that is to say, that of the Kokwulye district must have been in sharp contrast with that of the southern region, namely, those of the Si11a and Paykce districts.
