dc.description.abstractThis paper has approached interlanguage from three different angles: the starting point, simplification and communicative strategies. Two hypotheses concerning the starting point were critically reviewed. Under the
heading of simplification the relationship between foreigner talk and interlanguage was discussed. And communicative strategies were classified in terms of message adjustment' and resource expansion. Implications of these two major strategies in foreign language teaching were also suggested.
