‘우디허’(Udihe) 名稱考

Abstract

The present study discusses the name of the Udihe tribe, which is a branch of Tungus. 1 examined the various hypotheses of the historical origin of ‘Udihe.’ And I investigated the complex problems about the name of ‘Udihe’ on the basis of historical and ethnographical materials about the tribe. My attempt to treat the name ‘Udige’ and ‘Weji’ on the one hand and ‘Udige’ and ‘Udihe’ on the other under the same origin can be regarded as a contribution to the fùture study of the historical and ethnographical status of ‘Udihe.’
