Zur effektiven Didaktik des deutschen Deklinationssystems

Abstract

One of the most important tasks in Teaching German as a Foreign Language is to develop an efficient teaching method of the complex grammatical systems. In this paper we have examined the teaching methods of the declination systems as introduced in the German grammar and text books both in Korea and Germany, and have proposed an alternative to them. We started from the viewpoint that all the declination systems are based on the same inflexion system, namely that of the definite article. For the declination of adjectives we need a further inflexion table which is called "weak declination." In this framework, the adjectives take their endings either from the inflexion table of the definite article or from that of the socalled "weak declination." With the method we propose, a plausible way is found to teach efficiently the declination of personal pronouns and adjectives, which are the two of the most difficult areas in teaching German grammar to the foreign learners.
