This paper presents some of the main features of support verb (Vsup)
constructions where predicate nouns (Npréd) are located in the subject position,
not only in French but also in Korean. Support verb constructions
with Npréd in the subject position are not typically studied in Lexicon
grammar. We first classified the three conditions under which Npréd can
appear in the subject position: passive construction [ETRE Vpp], intransitive
construction, and complex construction with two predicates. Among
them, the passive construction [ETRE Vpp] can be analyzed with a
hypothetical proposition that a predicate noun group (GNpréd) is reconstructed
with the insertion of a support verb (Vsup). This hypothesis, 《reconstruction
of GNpréd≫ which extends the notion of 《reconstruction of ordinary noun groups (GN-pred)≫, would simplify the syntactic conditions of the support verb
construction; it completes another existing approach,
~the nominalization of the support verb construction~. Finally, we applied
that hypothesis to a Korean support verb 《rtoita≫, which allows the understanding
of the passive construction by that verb.
