This paper deals with the issues of how nouns are used with the meaning of plurality in Korean and how they are interpreted. In Korean, countability is not fully established as a grammatical feature in two respects. DPs of the form [n N], which is a typical structure of a count noun, are used only with small numbers. And tul is used to mark plurality, but the meaning seems inconsistent. I divide the uses of tul into two cases. Only when DPs with tul have a definiteness or specificity marker is tul considered a real plural marker. Bare singulars or bare plurals can be interpreted as definite or indefinite. This is due to a free type shifting required in the process of interpretation. And there are some pragmatic factors like humanity or spatio-temporal distribution which affect uses of tul.ko_KR
