하이퍼텍스트의 이론에 대한 고찰

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine characteristics of the hypertext, In extending Innis and McLuhan's perspective on media, it discusses three characteristics of the hypertext; nonlinearity, seamlessness, borderlessness. It argues that hypertext creates the changes in traditional power relations between writer and reader, and maker arxl audience. It also suggests that hypertext exempIify forms of transition between textuality and hypertextuality. Hypertext system links passages of verbal text and images as easily as they links more verbal passages, Hypertext linking situates the present text as the center of the textual universe, thus creating a new links of hierarchy in which power of the center dominates that of the infinite periphery.

Deleuze and Guattari's perspective on text--rhizome as a model of discourse--and Derrid's intertexuality is discussed to identify the characteristics of the hypertext. This paper proposes that rhizome is a useful model for analyzing structure of the hypertext, It identifies similarities that rhizome's multiple entries and exits is close to the multiple entries and links of the hypertext on World Wide Web.

Finally, it proposes that hypertext can be analyzed by traditional five cannons of speech, that is, invention, organization, style, memory, and delivery. Hypertext requires a new method of writing and reading in invention, organization, style, and delivery. In organizing text, it ought to concern 'orientation' information, that is necessary for finding one's place within a text, it concern 'navigation' information, necessary for making one's way through the materials. and it also concern 'departure' and 'arrival' information.
