This study aims to discuss A+qilai in the Chinese language, which would signify change-of-state, appearance and duration. As for a factor to present the A+qilai in two different forms of the appearance of a new state and the gradual duration of changes, the study considers it not to be qilai but Adjective A. In the Chinese language, a form of the positive degree of Adjective looks identical with this form of the comparative degree. This study, after all, argues for this chance of how Adjective A which is used in the A+qilai would be realized with two meanings of the positive degree A1 to indicate a location of a state and the comparative degree A2 to indicate a difference of a state. Since the A+qilai is used for two meanings which are A1+qilai and A2+qilai, the study argues that the syntax can go for these two meanings of the appearance of a new state and the gradual duration of changes. In addition, semantic differences are observed also in the A2+qilai to indicate duration of changes. At the same time, the study suggests that the meaning of qilai in the current Chinese language textbook equals to begin(s) to -. Chinese language learners only perceives this meaning of beginning that qilai would carry which would combine with adjectives, while they have a hard time correctly acquiring these patterns of how A+qilai expresses. In this study, after meanings of the A+qilai are defined, the comparison with change-of-state expressions in the Korean language system will be investigated. This study will be academically significant not only to linguistics studies but also to Chinese language education targeting Korean Chinese language learners.ko_KR
