dc.description.abstract | A serious predicament of the Korean education system is its inability to provide
individual students with a structured and systematic opportunity to identify and develop their special abilities. Plagued with curriculum and assessment policies which force students to cram simple facts by rote, the education system has rather impaired the realization of individuality, uniqueness, and creativity. For instance, based on the overwhelming emphasis on linguistic and logical-mathematical abilities, the education system often abandons students with other talents as lost causes and chokes other performance abilities from flourishing. Fortunately, the 7th Curriculum Development offers hope that such an educational reality could be amended in the near future. Aiming to improve the quality of education, it pursues to develop a more individualized and diverse curriculum for Korean schools. | - |
