The present paper is an attempt to revalue the linguistic theories developed by Chu Si-Gyong (1876-1914), alias Han Hin Saem, who was the initiator and leader of the standardization movement of the Korean language and writing systems around the turn of the century. Although his influence on the development of modern Korean linguistics was great, his original ideas set out in his various works have not been fully evaluated by his followers.ko_KR
