Abstract
From the teaching of Korean language as the national language, beginning in the very first year of primary school, through a second or third foreign language class in highschool, then up to adult learners in college or in private lessons, we invest a considerable amount of passion and energy-time, money, and effort-in teaching and learning language; however, most of us believe the state of the art to be still unsatisfactory. By this reason, the discussion in this paper is opened by giving a rough sketch of education and language. And the supporting sciences, such as linguistics, psychology, sociology, and the study of education among others, are to seek, in the nearest future, for a more concrete means (useful and at the same time usable theories of language teaching and those for teacher training, theoretical yet practical guides for teaching and research etc.) to contribute to the betterment of language education.
